Vision: Foundation Christian Academy seeks to be the premier Christian school in South Central Kentucky.
Mission: The mission of Foundation Christian Academy is to provide a strong Christian foundation for students and to prepare them for spiritual, intellectual and social growth while in a Christian setting.
The tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $3750. A bargain is
something of value that one gets for a reduced price. Is this true of FCA's current tuition?
The Wall Street Journal, September 15, 2005 (ppW1,10) had an article entitled "Opting out of Private School." It began with parents of twin kindergarten students and a first grader who "faced tuition bills of $22,500 per child." Their decision to leave private education "was primary economic." The article also reported that "Higher cost are a big factor in the switch. The median tuition for private schools nationally was $16,970 in 2005-2006..." Many schools have a tuition that fully covers the cost of educating each child. While this puts a school on a sound financial foundation, it also puts the cost beyond what most parents can afford. The FCA Board has committed to keeping tuition as low as possible so parents can afford a quality Christian education for their children. This is the reason for our major fundraisers. They help make up the difference between tuition and the actual cost of educating a student.
Our parents understand the quality Christian education their children receive. The students consistently score two grades or more above their current grade level on the Stanford Achievement tests. FCA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and by the National Christian School Association (NCSA.)
I especially appreciated a letter from a parent (who is also a college professor). She wrote: "Foundation Christian Academy will forever hold a special place in our hearts. My hope is that (she) will continue to share the many values you have instilled... I've proudly witnessed the influence of FCA in everything she does... Thank you for giving (her) more than any parent could ever think of asking."
Truly a bargain is something of value one gets at a reduced price. Is there any doubt that the parents/guardians of FCA students are getting one of the best bargains possible?
FCA needs your help in our fundraisers and telling donors about the school. We will continue to increase our scholarship fund with your help. Be sure to tell your family, neighbors and friends who have elementary and middle school children about the quality Christian
education at FCA.
Principal's Perspective
Fall 2010
It is great to report that the 2010-2011 school year is moving along wonderfully. All one has to do to see the on-going learning is to stand in one of the classroom doors and listen to the teachers and the students responses. There is a great sense of unity on the part of faculty and staff in the desire to provide a quality Christian education for each student. In addition, the number of parent and grandparent volunteers supplementing the work in the classrooms lift the spirit of everyone. This positive spirit has let to another record enrollment with the number currently at 145.
I would be amiss if I did not point out new additions to the faculty and staff for this new school year. As we added another K-4 class this year, we were blessed to secure the services of Mrs. Melissa Jackson. Mrs. Jackson is doing an outstanding job working with the young minds in her classroom. I just wish I could approach keeping my office as orderly as she keeps her classroom.
For the seventh and eighth grade classes, we were fortunate in hiring Mr. Kenny Hart. Mr. Hart is a multipurpose teacher with a Master's Degree in English. In addition, Mr. Hart is gifted with music talent both vocal and instrumental. Mr. Hart, Mr. Abston, and Brother Baker have been working hard to create a chorus here at FCA.
Another addition to our staff this year has been Mrs. Melinda Helton. Melinda has been hired as our Administrative Assistant, which means that she is expected to do just about anything anyone can think up for her to do, but she has responded wonderfully. Her main concentration so far has been a redesigning of the FCA website.
Mrs. Sharon Coop has returned to the staff of FCA in the capacity of before and after school coordinator as well as part time aide. We are surely glad to have Sharon back home at FCA.
