FCA's Athletics Philosophy:
Because God is sovereign over all His creation, His Lordship must also extend to athletics. The FCA Athletic Department recognizes this fact and, therefore, seeks to give honor to God by formulating a philosophy consistent with His character and will.
Our present pursuit of this reality includes the following:
Foundation's Sportsmanship Code:
This year will be our cross country team's 2nd season. We have 25 children that have participated this year from 1st through 6th grade. We practice on FCA's campus and at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green. Practice began early in August in well above 90 degree heat. Our season began August 27th and will continue until October 26th, which is the City/County final meet.
We compete with all of the local elementary schools as well as neighboring county schools. We have participated in 6 meets and have received medals in 3 of our meets.
Our goal is that as many students as would like to participate will join us to encourage exercise and healthy competition. We also believe that cross country has strengthened the bond between students. They encourage each other to work in practice and do their best in competition. We have also encouraged a strong school spirit. It is our belief that the Bible encourages us to take care of our bodies and treat them as holy temples and exercise can help maintain their "temples". It also teaches mental discipline.
